Welcome to the sink the Spike Project! An endeavor of interest to fishermen, scuba divers, ocean enthusiast, and history buffs.

The Spike is a retired coast guard tender with a diverse history. She served on local waters pushing large barges from the mid 60’s through the late 80’s. The vessel was then donated to the Safe Harbor Boys Home, where it has since been used as a dormitory and educational tool.

The Spike is now ready for retirement from the Boys Home. She has two fate options: Scrap metal or as a diverse reef ecosystem off the Coast of Jacksonville FL.

Help us continue the journey of this magnificent Ship and join us in support. We plan to use the Spike to make a reef; creating habitat for an endless amount of marine life while supporting the local fishing and diving industries.
